Background & Aims: The aim of the research was to investigate mindfulness based stress reduction on academic adaptation and distress tolerance in male students with learning disabilities in Shahrekord city. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included male students with learning disabilities who had referred to Shahrekord learning disability center in 2003. The sampling method was purposeful in this way that 30 male students with learning disabilities were selected and randomly divided into two groups of 15 people, test and control. The research tools were the Disturbance Tolerance Questionnaire (DTS) by Simmons and Gaher (2005) and the Academic Adaptation Questionnaire by Baker and Vesirik (1984). Mindfulness sessions based on Kabat-Zinn's (2006) stress reduction were held for the experimental group in 8 90-minute sessions once a week. After the pre-test, the control group was waiting for treatment after the end of the intervention period and they did not receive any treatment during this period. After collecting and extracting the data, the participants' scores were analyzed using the analysis of covariance method. The results showed that mindfulness training based on stress reduction had a significant effect on academic adaptation and distress tolerance of students with learning disabilities in Shahrekord city (P>0.0001).
