Abstract: (230 Views)
The present study was conducted with the aim of the effectiveness of schema therapy on the cognitive-emotional regulation of changing attachment styles in adolescents in Tehran. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included secondary school girls in district 7 of Tehran in the academic year of 1403, who were selected by available sampling method and placed in two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. The experimental group received schema therapy for 12 sessions of 90 minutes, and the control group remained waiting for treatment during this period. The tools used in the present study included cognitive-emotional regulation questionnaire (Garnefsky and Kraij, 2006) and attachment styles (Hazen and Shaver, 1987). The analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaire was done in two descriptive and inferential parts (analysis of covariance). The results showed that schema therapy decreased negative emotional regulation and increased positive emotional regulation in adolescents. Also, the results showed that by controlling the pre-test effect, there is no significant difference between the post-test average of the two experimental and control groups in the avoidant attachment style variable; But there is a significant difference in secure and ambivalent attachment style variables. According to the findings of the present study, schema therapy can be suggested as an effective method to improve cognitive-emotional regulation and secure and ambivalent attachment style in adolescents.
